Biography

Nicole Smoke (she/hers) is an enrolled member of the St. Regis Mohawk Tribe. A first-generation college student, she earned her B.S. in Human Development and Family Science with a minor in Native American Studies from Syracuse University in 2017, and her M.S. in Higher Education in 2024.

Nicole is passionate about creating supportive, welcoming spaces for Native and Indigenous students in higher education. In her role as Assistant Director of the Native American Program (NAP), she oversees several key initiatives: Native and Indigenous Pre-Orientation Program, Indigenous Peer Mentor Program, NAP First-Year Advising, One-on-one and student group advising, Educational Enrichment Funding, and Professional Development Opportunities and Initiatives.

Outside of work, Nicole enjoys spending quality time with family and friends. She loves being on the water, playing pickup volleyball, staying active at the gym, and making space for spontaneous adventures. Whether she's catching up with loved ones or exploring something new, Nicole values connection, wellness, and joy in everyday life.
